Crown Zirkonia diperbuat daripada blok seramik pepejal putih yang menggabungkan kekuatan dan ketahanan logam dengan estetika porselin.

Crown Seramik Penuh/ Crown E-max

Crown Porselin Penuh terkenal dengan estetika unggul dan keupayaan untuk memadankan warna gigi semula jadi lebih baik daripada mana-mana jenis crown lain.

Crown Seramik Berlapis Logam

Crown PFM diperbuat daripada aloi logam di bahagian dalam dan porselin di bahagian luar. Ia lebih menjimatkan daripada mahkota pergigian lain yang ada.

  •  Untuk meningkatkan estetika lagi, ia boleh dilapisi dengan porselin.

Crown Seramik Berlapis Logam

PFM crowns are made of metal-alloy on the inside and porcelain on the outside. Hence, combining the strength of metal crowns with the aesthetics of porcelain crowns. Typically, PFM crowns are suitable for front or back teeth and long bridges where metal is required for strength.

Pros:

  • Decent visual appearance as they have a porcelain exterior which can match the neighboring tooth 

  • Good durability to withstand the stress of chewing 

  • More economical compared to porcelain/zirconia crowns

Cons:

  • Despite the porcelain exterior, the metal on the inner surface may get exposed if the gum starts to recede as we get older 

  • Possibility of triggering an allergic reaction to metal 

  • Requires more tooth cutting to accommodate 2 layers of material 

What to expect before getting crown?

Typically, getting a crown involves 2 separate visits:

First Visit

Our dentist will assess the condition of the tooth. If necessary, root canal treatment will be performed to reduce chances of complications.  

 

Local anaesthesia will first be administered. After that, the crown-bearing tooth is then filed down across the top and sides. This makes room for the crown.

Once the preparation of the tooth is complete, our dentist will take the mold/impression of the tooth and its surrounding structures. The impressions are then sent to a dental laboratory for fabrication.  

It normally takes about 45-60 minutes for the full procedure.

Second Visit

​

Our dentist will fit the crown on the prepared tooth and check for its fitting on all sides. Once the check is complete, the crown will be permanently cemented. This step normally takes 15-30 minutes.  

  • Is braces painful?
    Braces can initially lead to discomfort and soreness, which may persist after adjustments. Friction between braces, teeth, and the mouth can cause mouth sores. Do not worry, these issues are temporary and can be eased with pain relievers and dental wax or gels for ulcers.
  • What age is best to start braces?
    Though people can get generally braces at any age, whether young or old, orthodontic treatment is most commonly recommended for teenagers around 9 to 14 years old as at this time, all the permanent teeth have already erupted and the jaw is still growing, both of which allows dentist to make adjustments more effectively.
  • How long does braces last?
    On average, dental braces are worn for 1 to 3 years, but the length can be shorter or longer depending on your treatment method and orthodontic issue.
  • Is there any alternative ways other than metal braces?
    Yes, there are alternatives to traditional metal braces. Some of the common alternatives include: Ceramic Braces: These are similar to metal braces but use clear or tooth-colored brackets, making them less noticeable. Invisalign: Invisalign involves a series of clear, removable aligners that gradually move your teeth. They are nearly invisible and can be removed for eating and brushing. Clear Aligners: Besides Invisalign, there are other clear aligner brands like Angel Aligner that offer similar treatments.
  • What is the price range for braces?
    At The Arc Dental, our charges varies depending on the type of bracket system selected. Metal traditional braces range from RM6000-7000; Self ligating bracket range from RM7000-8000; Damon bracket range from RM8500-9500. Installment packages are available as well.
